Driver arrested after fatal M1 crash

first_imgA coach driver involved in a crash, which left three people dead on the M1 and closed the motorway for seven hours, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.The ’03-reg Berkhof Axial 100-bodied Volvo B12BT, operated by Sheerness-based Travelmasters, collided with an Audi that was on the hard shoulder, having broken down.The crash, at 0645hrs when it was dark and foggy, was on the northbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 13.Three men in the car died at the scene. A fourth man in the car was taken to hospital.No one on the coach, which was taking a university cheerleading team from Kent to Birmingham, was injured.last_img
