Four Argos named to United Soccer Coaches All-region teams

first_imgKansas City, Missouri- The 2019 UWF Men’s Soccer team continues to rack up the awards as four Argonauts were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Team, which was announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.After being recognized as first team All-Gulf South Conference and selected to the D2CCA All-South Region first squad, senior defender Jerry Wiltshire and junior midfielder Ed Chappe were named to the USC first team all-south region while redshirt senior forward Sean Hoffstatter and freshman midfielder Davi Alves were named to the second and third teams, respectively. Wiltshire, the GSC defender of the year, was selected after starting 17 games, scoring three goals including the lone goal in the NCAA Tournament match-up with Florida Tech, and guiding the Argo defense to nine shutouts on the season.  Chappe, a Reading, England native,  meanwhile lead all position players with 20 points on the season.  He was also tied for the team lead in goals with seven on the year with four of those being game-winners.For Hoffstatter, it is another notch in his illustrious career as he was previously named as a USC first-team all south region selection in 2018 when he paced the team with 17 goals and 40 points.  This season, the Fort Walton Beach native added to his career total with seven goals, three assists and 17 points on 59 shots which lead the team.Alves, the 2019 GSC freshman of the year, had an outstanding season as well with five goals, seven assists and 17 points on 34 shots.  The seven assists were good enough for the Belo Horizonte, Brazil native to lead the team and pace all freshmen in the GSC in that category.For the latest information on the UWF Men’s Soccer team, please visit goargos.com, or follow the team on social media pages on Facebook and Instagram @UWFSoccer or on Twitter @UWFMSoccer.Print Friendly Versionlast_img
