Burnley targetting late swoop for Nottingham Forest star

first_imgBurnley are closing in on a deal to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury as they look to take advantage of the turmoil at the City Ground.Clarets boss Sean Dyche had a bid rejected for Lansbury in the summer and the former Arsenal midfielder signed a new deal with Forest after Stuart Pearce convinced him to stay. But Forest’s decision to fire Pearce and replace him with Dougie Freedman has encouraged Burnley to revisit their move for the 24-year-old, with the player himself thought to be keen on the switch.Forest are far from certain to sell, though, with the two clubs thought to be in talks over a potential deal. One option is for Burnley to pay a higher fee if they avoid relegation from the Premier League. But the switch is likely to go to the wire with no deal thought to be imminent.
