The suspect then got onto the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway and drove back into Monterey Park, where he exited the freeway and surrendered about 8:15 a.m., officers said. No injuries were reported. MONTEREY PARK – A 30-minute car chase ended this morning after a man who allegedly stole a car surrendered to police. Police arrested a Montebello man for grand theft auto and for evading a police officer. Both are felony charges. The chase began around 7:40 a.m. in the area of Pomona Boulevard and Wilcox Streets after a Montebello resident called said a neighbor’s car had been stolen. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver kept going, eventually ending up in the downtown Los Angeles area, officers said.
